Visa Guide

Helpful information for guests traveling to Greece from abroad.

If you are traveling from outside the EU or Schengen area, please check early whether you need a visa for Greece. Visa requirements depend on your nationality, passport, and residence status, so always confirm the latest rules with the relevant Greek consulate or visa center before you apply.

Do I need a visa?

Whether you need a visa depends on your nationality and travel document. Please always check the official Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Greek embassy/consulate responsible for your country.

When should I apply?

For short-stay Schengen travel, applications are generally submitted no earlier than 6 months before travel and at least 15 days before departure. During busy periods, applying earlier is usually safer.

Common documents that may be requested

Typical visa applications may ask for a passport, application form, photos, proof of accommodation, flight reservation or itinerary, travel insurance, proof of funds, and supporting invitation documents where relevant. Exact requirements can vary by nationality and application location.

Invitation / support letter

If you need a wedding invitation letter or a simple supporting confirmation for your trip, please contact us early so we can try to help with the documents you may need for your application.

Short Schengen stays

For many guests, travel to Greece for the wedding will fall under a short-stay Schengen visit, which is generally up to 90 days in any 180-day period.

What should I know about bags and airport rules?

As a general rule, liquids in cabin baggage should be in containers of 100 ml or less and placed in a transparent re-sealable bag of up to 1 litre. Larger liquid containers normally go into checked baggage, except for special cases such as medicines or baby food. Always check your airline’s own rules as well.

Electronics and medicines

Phones, cameras, tablets, laptops, and other portable electronics are usually best kept in hand luggage. If you travel with important medication or medical equipment, check your airline’s rules in advance and carry prescriptions or supporting documents where appropriate.

Useful travel reminders

Please double-check passport validity, travel insurance, baggage restrictions, and any customs rules before departure. Keep digital and printed copies of your key travel documents, just in case.
